Blu-ray claims victory over HD DVD

It was reported in ERT weekly that the Blu-ray Association has declared a victory over the HD DVD next-generation DVD format at the CES show, with its announcement about a number of companies releasing content on its format. The format has the support of seven out of the eight major Hollywood studios and two of the biggest players in the music industry. Andy Parsons, chair of the Association says that the shipping of 1m Sony PlayStation 3 units to the US in 2006, which feature a Blu-ray Disc drive, has helped create momentum for the format. According to market analyst Understanding & Solutions the market share for Blu-ray Disc will increase in 2007 and is expecting virtually all HD optical disc hardware sold to be Blu-ray by 2010

Sony says no to blue movies on Blu-ray
